"Sustainability Metrics" Panel at 11th GIN Conference (10/16/03)
A "Sustainability Metrics" session organized by BRIDGES were held at the 11th Greening of Industry Network (GIN) Conference.  Kevin Nelson, Corporate EHS Director of The Stanley Works, presented results of BRIDGES' metrics pilot at the company's facilities.  BRIDGES papers on metrics and SD performance assessment were also presented at the conference.

New book on Sustainable Development in the Chemical Industry (10/1/03)
Beth Beloff and Marianne Lines, with Bob Pojasek, are editors of a new book intended to serve as a practical guide to sustainability, to be published by John Wiley & Sons in 2005. A host of distinguished authors, including company representatives, will be contributing.
   

US BCSD Association Membership Program (10/1/03)
Beth Beloff and Marianne Lines from BRIDGES are developing a membership program for US Business Council for Sustainable Development to include industry associations and other nonprofit organizations with sustainability initiatives.

Nanotechnology project kicked-off (8/1/03)
BRIDGES, together with Dr. Earl Beaver and Dr. Mark Wiesner from Rice University, kicked-off a 2-year US EPA project on screening the sustainability and life-cycle impacts of nanotechnology applications related to the chemical industry.

BRIDGES awarded new NSF grant (3/5/03)
BRIDGES was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to apply and further develop its sustainability metrics to assess life-cycle impacts of steel microstructure improvements with Caterpillar, Inc. as industrial partner.

Completed: Houston air pollution health effects project (2/15/03)
BRIDGES submitted its final report on the assessment of information needs on air pollution health effects in Houston.  The project was performed for the Texas Council on Environmental Technology (TCET) in collaboration with the Mickey Leland National Urban Air Toxics Research Center.  Report is available to download from TCET.  

International Sustainability Indicators Network conference
A poster on BRIDGESworks™ Platform was presented at the ISIN Meeting in Toronto, March 13-16.  To view the poster, click here (in PDF).
