The book "Transforming
Sustainability Strategies into Action: The Chemical Industry" will serve
as a practical guide to sustainability. BRIDGES' Beth Beloff,
Marianne Lines, and Dicksen Tanzil are editors. The book is scheduled
for publication by John Wiley & Sons in September 2005.

A trial version of

The
Stanley Works metrics pilot
The Stanley Works, a worldwide manufacturer of tools, hardware,
and specialty hardware products, are piloting BRIDGES' sustainability metrics
approach (pdf, 560kb) at its three toolbox facilities. Interim results
of the project were presented by Kevin Nelson, Corporate EHS Director of
The Stanley Works, at the 11th International Greening of Industry Network
Conference in San Francisco,
October 12-15, 2003.

Screening
Sustainability: Nanotechnology
The research
project focuses on developing a methodology to screen the sustainability
and life-cycle implications of emerging near-term nanotechnology
applications. Dr. Earl Beaver (Practical Sustainability) and Dr. Mark
Wiesner (Rice
University) are
BRIDGES' partners for this project, supported through a grant from the US
Environmental Protection Agency.

BCSD Association Membership Program
Beth Beloff and
Marianne Lines from BRIDGES are developing a membership program for US
Business Council for Sustainable Development to include industry
associations and other nonprofit organizations with sustainability
initiatives.
